The Jesus Show.

As much as I loathe the words, "Church Shopping", I suppose that's what we are doing. Trying places out, trying to see where we belong. I suppose we're just trying to figure out if there is anywhere we belong.

It's not fun, you know? It makes me feel like even more of a freak than usual. And that? Is a lot.

So today, again, we went somewhere new.

It was big outside, but not so big on the inside. Everyone was pretty nice.

The sermon? Was about forgiveness.

Because, apparently, sometimes the Lord gets tired of me and all my advanced b.s. and just sits my fat ass down directly where I need to be. Whether I like it or not.

The kids had their own children's program and they absolutely loved it. They thought it was the best thing ever and asked if we could go back next week.

I said we could.

We will.

I'll do it. And? I'll probably like it.

That made me smile. Sometimes God does have a way of bringing us exactly where we need to be.

i've always found church to be a rather hard spot for a stepfamily to be. i hope you can feel comfortable and find your place to belong without too much harrassment.

...or maybe i should give it another try.

i'm glad... i realize more and more that a lot of times when i go places (like a different church)... its not the people who make it awkward... it's ME and my over-active imagination!! i hope this works out for you! maybe God has plopped your butt down here for a reason! ;)

I hope you've found the right place and won't have to look any further! :)

Okay -- we're not THAT far away from you -- and we talk about forgiveness -- and we have a butt-kickin' kids program -- and, and, and, and. . . . :)

Glad you found a place you like! ;)

Very cool. I know I found the right place to be for my spiritual life exactly when I needed it. Funny how all that stuff works out like that.

Good for you. I know walking into a strange sanctuary isn't easy, but I'm glad ya'll are trying different places to find the right fit for your family.

I LOVE that you're in church and are taking your children.

There's no such thing as a "perfect" church... but, there is a church where you belong. It sounds like you may have found it.

And that makes my heart happy for all of you :).

I especially love how God totally uses His Holy Spirit to get a message through to us - LOUD and clear! Good thing you were listening and heard it :).

Church is my sanctuary. I need the calm, peace, and love that I hear (not always from the people around me, but from the spirit and lessons taught) to get through the next week. I even love being so involved with the youth because I can get it all over again on Wednesday.

Oh, this is awesome. I think back on my parents' generation and see now how they struggled to find the right "fit" with a church, and so it continues into our generation. I knew I was a tough nut when the Unitarians turned me off. But I like the crunchy UCC church we sometimes attend. They have a big cheeseball guy with super curly hair to does serious wailing up front, leading the congregation in modern song. Since I hate "modern" music in church, I, instead, spend my time appreciating what a cheeseball he is.

I've had a few of those sermons recently... the kind where I stare up at the ceiling and wonder if He's talking just to me or if there are other people around me just as dense as I am. :)

Awesome that you've found a place that speaks to you AND that the kiddos like. Church shopping is HARD!

I love that feeling that the message is just for me. I mean, I don't like that it confirms my suspicion that I'm horribly self-centred, but I love feeling that Heavenly Father is looking out for me. I know that, but the confirmation is nice, isn't it?

I hate it when God his me over the head with a 2 x 4. I may hate it, but I also know that I need it! I am glad you found a place that you and your kids like. It is so important to go to a church that your kids dig, especially since they are preteens.

Oops, I meant HITS me over the head

I just last Sunday went to a new church. One that I've been wanting to go to, but, I guess I was a little intimidated by it's size. But, you know what? It was fine. I loved it. I loved the sermon. It really spoke to me. I will be back this Sunday and I will be taking my girls with me and hopefully we've found our church.
