It's like the Mommy Wars. Only bitchier.

I, like everyone else on the planet, have a lot going on.

The other day? I was telling someone in my life what I had going on. The conversation went something like this:

Me: Man, I'm tired.

Other person: I'm tired too.

Me: I was up until midnight working on a project.

OP: I got up at 4am to finish cupcakes for my child's class.

Me: I'm mostly tired because I worked out for an hour and a half after working 9 hours yesterday. *yawn*

OP: Well, I work ALL DAY EVERY DAY because I'm a mom.

Me: Yes, I know. I'm a mom too.

OP: But I stay HOME with my kids. It's all the time! You at least send your kids to school! I homeschool!

Me: That must be hard.

OP: AND! I drive my children to piano THREE TIMES A MONTH! I'm exhausted!

Me, getting in the spirit of it because, apparently, I'm twelve: Well, I work full-time and blog and I'm writing a book and I'm promoting another book AND I work part-time blogging for my company AND I work out four or five times a week AND I freelance AND I'm...

OP: I GO TO CHURCH ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS!

It could have went on. Mercifully, I had something else to do, so I had to end the conversation.

(And see? I win! I had something else to do EVEN WHEN HAVING A CONVERSATION ABOUT HOW BUSY I AM!)

(Also? Apparently I'm a douche)

It's not just women I have this kind of conversation with and it's not just about parenting. Everybody wants you to know that THEY ARE BUSY BY GOD and no matter what you have going on THEY ARE FAR BUSIER THAN YOU.

I'm guilty too.

What I don't understand is why. Why do I care what anyone else does? Why does anyone care what I have going on?

WHY IS BEING BUSY AND STRESSED OUT SOMETHING VALUED?

Cause I don't know about you, but I really freaking hate being so busy and stressed out all the time. My life would be a whole lot easier if I didn't have twelve jobs and a big ass. Why do I act like it's something to be proud of?

Being so tired you almost fall asleep at the wheel of your vehicle doesn't sound like something you strive to attain. Am I right?

Agreed. But I'm guilty of the same myself. And when I really look at my life -- I am NOT busy. I just think I'm busy. I'm kinda lame like that. LOL

I know I haven't told you this in a while (because I am the shittiest commenter ever), but I love you. This post just reminds me why!!

You rock, girl! And you deserve the success that is coming your way. Soon you'll be able to just pay someone to do some of your crap for you and you'll be able to relax a bit.

DOn't forget us when you are all bff with Oprah!

Doncha hate it when people try to one-up ya?!!!? Actually it's really just a fun game to play.

And I'm so busy because I have to walk to work 10 miles every day in the snow in August uphill both ways!

Hah!! I love that game!!!

Moms are nuts. The whole lot of us.

I've given up having this competition. I always lose.

It's the "I am Superwoman" mentality. The busiest person wins. I don't know why we do that. I'm thankful for the moments I get to sit quietly and read a book. I hate being so busy I don't remember my own name.
But otherwise, people would say we're lazy, wasting our life.
Can't win.

I used to do a lot and now we do nothing. but we have great family time together and my days are full of hugs and kisses and diapers, well, that was inevitable. next time someone says something like that, just say something like, oh aren't we all, hey did you see that thing on tv the other night? works every time!

I guess because if people notice how busy we are, then we can feeled valued for all we do. Lord knows everyone in our lives that MAKE us so busy don't always value us the way we want.

It's still wrong but that is probably why.

I hate it that people are too busy to reply to a freaking e mail. Give me a break. Hell, I am busy too but I am atleast a good friend.

I really don't like how many ways mothers in general find to compete with each other. We are all doing the best we can. We should be supporting each other instead of trying to play a game of one-up-manship

I just appreciate that you're 12 at heart and played along. I usually just roll my eyes at people and insist they have NO idea and leave it at that to make them think I fight crime or something in my spare time. ;)

The one with the heaviest day planner wins.

We're all competitive, that's what it is. :) No worries.
