Best. Note. Sent. Home. Ever.

Today was the first day back to school! Hurray!

I've had an utterly dreadful day, so I was delighted to find the following general announcement in both of my children's backpacks this afternoon:

Policy Update:
Students are not permitted to wear grilles on their teeth.

I don't even know how to appropriately respond to this message.

I'll just say: Hell to the yes.

I sat gaping at the comptuer, then called in Josh who also sat gaping. Then I tried to come up with an appropriate reply. Then I tried to imagine who who have such a thing on their elementary child (in Tennessee especially for cod's sake. is this a real epidemic in that area?) Then I laughed. A lot. And thanked the heavens that you exist and share this kinda shit with me for it makes me happy in the heart.

You know...they are like gold and diamond plated fake teeth looking things that fit over your real teeth.

Think Flavor of Love...

Shame on you! Think of all of the sad little children who are unable to wear the grills they got for Christmas to school, with the diamonds, the platinum - oh it makes my eyes tear up. What is this world coming to - doesn't the happines of these children matter????? BWWAAAAHHAHAHA

Ok..I adore that you share this shit with us.

The sad thing is...this will eventually end up falling under "accessories" on some school dress code policy.

OH the horror?

OMG!! The fact that they even have to send a note home to tell parents that speaks volumes. Jeez, isn't it common sense that you don't where your "grill" to school. There are some really stupid parents out there. Gotta go, my grill is ready to be picked up!

Oh.my. What are grills? Have I been living under a rock? I can't believe that I'm actually asking! I know what "Get out of my grill" means, and I've seen Flavor Flav (thank you bethaby), so I am left to assume that this is some sort of metallic device worn in the mouth. (?) To which I must ask, "Why?" Really? No Way!

Okay. I scrolled up and read the rest of your comments. Thank you for the explanation!

Okay, I know this is an old post, but I'm going back through and reading your archives because I just found you. You are freakin' hysterical.

Now...about the grills. Hahahahahahaha! I'm a public school administrator in Louisiana, and we haven't even had to send THAT note home yet!
