Friends you haven't met yet.

In about a month I’m going to meet the woman who is probably my best friend on the planet.

That’s weird, right? Or is it? I don’t know. It seems like maybe it would be weird to be so close to someone you’ve never met. But I am.

Also? I’m nervous.

Because, I know you guys totally aren’t going to believe this, but I’m a complete spazz.

Shocking, right? I know.

But I am.

What if she hates me? What if she meets me and she’s all like, “Girlfriend, your voice is just NOT HAPPENING. I do not like how you call them wrecks instead of accidents! It’s not SPURIGHT. It’s SPRITE. It’s a BEVERAGE not the constitution! It’s shouldn’t take you so long to say it! I’m freaking out of here!”

Man. That would blow.

What if, even though I’ve told her like, every single thing possible about me and for some ungodly reason she STILL likes me and STILL wants to meet me, that when she meets me and she’s like, “Um. No.”

That would also blow.

So cross your fingers that she’ll totally love me. Okay?

She'll totally love you...110% totally.

How awesome that you get to finally "meet" her. :)

I have a couple of friends that I feel closer to than my family...and I've never "met" them. I think this is too cool.

. . .and she will like you. Don't sweat it.

And dude...you are so awesome. I wouldn't care if your voice sounded like Grover. (and she won't either.)
you rock!

I wish I could meet you both.

I understand what you are feeling though. I hope Amy W (A Family Story) still likes me after we meet. And Kelly (Mrs. CPA)- meeting them both the July 4th week. Maybe Nicole of Sitting Still too. Then there is the whole BlogHer angst where there is SO much potential for Every.single.blogger I meet to hate me.

Also? I met Steph (Lawyer Mama) in person and am STILL obsessing on if she likes me. While we are making plans to meet again. Yeah, I'm brilliant.

How could she not LOVE you???????
No worries, friend, you are amazing!!!!

It will be fine. She already "knows" you, she's put a face with a name, all she needs is your actual voice. If she's already heard you on the phone all that's left is seeing you live and in person. Unless all of your pictures are stolen from someone else and you are actually an 80 year old man with very funny stories. In that case, I could see where there would be a problem.

She is so going to love you! Do you talk real nasally and snort when you laugh like a hyena?

Because even then, I'm sure she'll still love you.

She'll love you, no worries.

I think those of us in the blogosphere all feel this way at some time or another, so you're not alone.

Chick, I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you are anything like the way you write, then she will love you. Just be yourself and have fun, like I have to tell you that anyways, lol :-)

I need details, please! Who is this person? I assume an internet buddy? Does she live close to you? Are you'll travelling for this get together? What are you gonna do? Why am I so curious?! I have no idea!

Okay, Dudette.
If it is who I think it is....
I've read what each of you have to say about each other.
You've got nothing to worry about. There will be a lot of laughter, a lot of tears, and I simply cannot wait to read what you will both write about that meeting.

You both Rock!

(you have inspired a post on Just For Laughs Dude. Thought you might like to see it.)

I wish I could meet you both as well...She will love you!

I don't have to cross my fingers for that, because she already does. =)

You're going to feel anxious and panicky at times, because that's how much meeting her matters to you. And I'm sure she'll be flattered by every panic attack. ~hugs~

I've met her, and I've met you, and you BOTH rock the freakin' block, so together it's going to be an explosion of awesome not to be equalled.

I predict you will love each other even more after you meet.

I sure loved both of you even more after I met you, because you are both even more kickass in person.

Have fun!

I hear you - it's sort of like a weird blind date but not really. I'm sure she will totally heart you. Just don't order SPURIGHT and all will be well!

My fingers are crossed for you!

"your voice is just NOT HAPPENING" lol that sounds like something I would say if I was in your situation too...I have a very distinct voice. Have fun!

BTW is this a blogger friend you are meeting?

Dude!!! How in the hell could she NOT love you???? You rock! And so does she, by the way. I wish I could meet both of you! Hint hint, wink wink. It's a lovely drive to Memphis, I'm told.

I would not want o meet anyone that I blogged with. Before anyone gets their panties in a wad it's because of this very thing. Stage/friend fright. Not only would I wonder if they liked me but maybe I wont like them either. What if they were more entertaining in person?? Or what if they smelled lol.

The Girl already loves The Chick, you know that!

But since you are so nervous, I will make the ultimate sacrifice. You can come hang out with me first. That way you won't be nervous when you meet The Girl. In fact, The Girl should try out a practice run on me too. Ya' know, just so you're both comfortable.

I'm willing to do this for your peace of mind ;)

Denise said...

What I meant to say is what if they were more entertaining on their blog and in person they so weren't. so yeah about that.

She'll love you. Who wouldn't. Take pictures!!

dennis said...

ok, we're hoping she totally loves you!
(and if there are any pics of this loving, let us know...LOL)

Now you'll never be able to look me in the eyes!!

That is so funny. You know men don't have this problem at all :) I think if you make sure you shower and there are no odd smells, and you wear clothes.. you'll be just fine :)

AnnieM said...

She's gonna think you da bomb! How could she not?

Emma in Canada said...

Of course she will love you! Silly girl.

Jocelyn said...

Maybe you could pre-establish a secret signal she can give if she doesn't like you, and then you both can quickly extricate yourselves.

Ha! She'll adore you. On the other hand, you may not like her a bit, and then we're back to that secret signal plan again.

Thanks for keeping it real, Chick, in the feelings dept. Funny how we can still feel like 4-year-old's...and when we LEAST want to.

Wish you a wonderful time with your new BFF! :)

Tamar said...

I am so envious of you both. And I am sure that after the initial jitters are over, you will both start chattering and not stop for hours.

Brown Eyed Girl said...

I'm worried about this too..only in reverse.

I really believe NEITHER of us has anything to worry about.

M said...

I'm just too horribly jealous to contribute anything positive. Can't someone just SWING BY and stuff me in a suitcase? *sniff*

You guys will adore each other. You already do. Meeting will be no different. Just think...it's WAY easier than meeting a guy online! No pressure to take your clothes off and hump! :)

Pish Paush. She'll love you. And that's all there is to it.
