By your side.

When I was a preteen and teenager in the 1980's and early 1990's, I would listen to love songs on the radio and imagine...dream, really, that someday some boy would love me enough to sing songs like that to me.

One day, Jason and I were listening to the stereo and that Phil Collins song, "Groovy Kind of Love" came on. I knew every word, of course, and I told Jason,
"I used to dream that someday, some boy would love me enough to sing this song to me."

He thought that was pretty funny and probably more than a little bit lame. He said something like, "Do you wish you had married someone more cheesy than me?"

Today, when I came home from the Cookie Booth From Hell, he greeted me at the door. In fact, he threw the door open and sang, at the top of his lungs:

"SHE'S A LADY! WHOA, WHOA, WHOA! SHE'S A LADY!
CHICK'S MY LADY! WHOA, WHOA, WHOA! AND THE CHICKIE IS MINE!"

Yeah.

Sometimes, I just need a little reminder.

No matter how bad things get, I just have to look next to me.

Jason is awesome!
I really like that giy.

You did good, Chick!

I like to sing to my wife as often as I can. In fact, I just posted the words to a song I sang to her just a few moments ago. Feel free to check it out if you like.

Blessings.

Sorry.
Jason is a guy, not a giy.
I don't even know what a giy is.

Oy.

hehehe... i always wanted my dream guy to sing to me too! i spent a lot of time in my teen years around bands... (we had a lot of shows at a youth center/theatre in town where my parents volunteered--and i volunteer now)... so i was always holding my breath when a band would show up - keeping my eyes on the cute ones... especially the cute singers. i never got one though. lol... and my boyfriend now can't even keep a tune. but i wouldn't trade him for any of those guys. fortunately... my BF doesn't try to sing to me though--its a little painful... he does like to dance some crazy dances... gotta love the cheese! so did you husband say why he chose that song? any reason behind it? made me giggle!!! :)

Awe. How sweet. My songs were more from the 70's but I can relate. It is weird but God did it so I guess we really can't complain although we want to. But we woman need that romantic stuff. You know how we love those songs that make us all weepy. And those movies. I can watch Pretty Woman a million times. But men they just are. You gotta love em' though.
I am glad we met on the blog party.
Come over for a late night supper tonight. We grilled over at our blog.

i LOVE that!!! I am the one to break out in song, in our family. My daughter adores this super wonderful quality in me, but my husband loathes it. He is so flippin' uptight...

Did you read the article about settling for Mr. Good Enough? I loved it and totally agreed http://traceesioux.blogspot.com/2008/02/be-my-mr-good-enough.html It sounds like you found a Mr. Good Enough too.

I think Tom Jones is even better than Phil Collins.

Did you throw your panties at him?

What a great post! Jason sounds a lot like my hubby. He's always doing something wacky, and I love it. Thanks for stopping by my blog party.

I'm assuming the cookie booth is referring to the Girl Scouts? There is nothing I love better than standing outside a grocery store freezing my butt off begging strangers to buy cookies!

You know what's funny? I had almost the exact same conversation with my Jason when "Groovy Kind of Love" was on American Idol a couple weeks ago... :)
