Who are you again?

If you read my blog and don't comment, can I ask you a question?

Why?

I'm not mad or anything. I'm just curious.

Because I find myself reading a lot of blogs lately and not commenting. And I'm feeling kind of sucky about it.

Most of the time, I don't comment because my days go like this:

Oh! Look at this blog! Oh! She's having a boy! Oh how fabulous! Isn't that...what? YOU DID WHAT TO THE DOG?!?!?! OH MY FREAKING LORD! DON'T TOUCH HER EVER AGAIN! DOGS DO NOT LIKE TO WEAR UNDERWEAR ON THEIR HEADS BOY CHILD, EVEN THOUGH IT IS HILARIOUS. THANK YOU! Where was I? Oh yes! Look at this...OH! SHINY PICTURE BOX! Wait, what? What did Obama say? GINGER! I DON'T WANT TO HOLD YOU RIGHT NOW! JAY-SUS!

So, it's a problem. My lack of focus can be quite disturbing.

Also, sometimes I don't comment because I just don't know what to say.

And? I'll admit to not commenting sometimes because I feel like a huge dork. I think, "I'll comment and that blog author will be all like, O!M!G! not HER again!"

Or something. I don't know.

So. I think I'm probably looking for validation of my Extreme Dorkiness here.

But still. Do tell.

I read your blog everyday and rarely comment. I'm not sure why..I always enjoy your posts and think you are very funny. I guess I'm just afraid I will look like a dork if I don't have anything cool to say.

Oh great, busted. I found you a while back and have never commented. I don't know why - I guess I'm just a tool. What does that mean, anyway "I'm a tool" ? See, complete dork, here.
Anyway, I love your writing. Back when you wrote about your history with your ex and the birth of your kiddos and everything - I was very inspired and started to write about my history and found it to be very therapeutic. So yeah, thanks. Anyway, I'm Maggie and I'd totally buy your book someday. Nice to meet you.

I don't think I've dropped you any dorky notes before so here goes. Ummm, I like your blog a lot and you make me laugh pretty much every day. Is that good enough? ;)

No really, you are hilarious and you should have your writing published someday in some form or another.

Have a great day! :D

like DND said, I always read but rarely comment. That said, I think you know who I am anyway, as I won a fabu prize from you last summer in a little contest you had goin on.

Anyway, I'm always scared I'll look like a dork, hence the lack of regular commenting. Who am I kidding, I am a dork. Plain and simple.

Hello. My name is Robyn. And I'm a lurker.

I read you every day, but never comment because I figure you get a gazillion comments and don't need anymore. Now that seems silly, now that I've said it.

I also wrote a really long one in respone to your post about changing your kids' names (because I went through the same thing at age 15) and then I don't think it posted. So I was frustrated.

I'm here everyday. Rarely comment lately on the majority of the posts I read. Either I'm trying to read as many blogs as I can while Morgan's eating or I'm distracted by something or, like you, I just don't know what to say. And? It's sucky. I feel bad. People take time to comment on my blog, I have to do the same. No. I don't HAVE to. I WANT to.

You and I can suck the comment leaving thing together :)

Girl from Pennsylvania said...

Hellos!

I have commented previously, but not super often. I am the same as you, in that I read a lot of blogs, but don't comment on every single one. I comment when I feel like I have something important to say, or something of varying opinion than the rest of the commenters. Perhaps I think when everyone is restating the same thing that the first commenter said that my "yeah, what they said" is just kind of a terd. But never fear, I comment when the subject propels me to!

ChrisB said...

OK I admit to lurking. I read a lot of blogs in bloglines and can no longer comment on everyone I read and enjoy~ sorry!

Anonymous said...

When I read new blogs I don't comment much because it's almost like a social situation where I'm the new person and I guess I"m kind of shy. ha.

I don't comment a lot on your blog because sometimes I feel like my comments are retarded. Like most of my blogs I read, you have a lot of readers and people have said things I wanted to say to you or I assume you'd probably be too busy to respond to a comment as menial as mine.

that being said, I always try to give my support when my bloggie friends need it :)

(yes, I feel like this comment is retarded, but you asked )

Karen said...

Okay, I'll come out of the shadows for this one too :) I read everyday and don't comment mainly because, like you said, I don't think I have much of anything to add. And I don't want to sound like a total goob.

All my comments would be like, "That is too funny!" or "I totally hear you on that!" or some other lame comment that doesn't really give you much feedback.

Then again, I know how much I enjoy even the little comments on my own blog, so I should do better speaking up now and again.

emily said...

Hi, My name is Emily. Long time listener, first time caller.

Time, energy, etiquette - not sure of all the rules on this here blog world thingie... those are just some of the super dee duper lame reasons I don't comment.

Zephyr said...

I tend to comment mostly to people who either visit my blog and comment on mine, or who reply to the comments I leave on their blogs. You don't do anything interactive, so it tends to reduce the feeling that I should be interactive myself.

Anonymous said...

Hi, I'm Amanda and I'm also a lurker. I don't comment because I feel like a dork...seriously everything that I would say in a comment would be so lame, which is annoying because I think I'm a pretty fantastically funny and sarcastic person in person. I just haven't been able to translate it to the online world like you!

BandK said...

I sometimes lurk but lately I've been commenting. It all depends on my mood and if I have anything to contribute to whatever you're talking about.

And as far as dorkiness goes? You're not a dork. You're just like the rest of us. You have to go a LOT further into the dork forest to get to real dork-dom.

Anonymous said...

I think I commented once before. I love your blog! I think I don't comment as much as I'd like because lack of time. UGH.

For some reason these kids want my attention...and um, food or something.

So many blogs, so little time.

Devon said...

i don't leave too many comments cuz i never know what to say--i just enjoy reading!

podrey said...

I'm a lurker on a lot of blogs. I comment rarely, b/c i may not have time, but usually b/c i have nothing interesting to contribute. It's so bizarre to me that anyone would feel *guilty* about not commenting, so i am motivated to speak up here.

If i felt any obligation to comment on the many blogs i read, i'd sure read a lot fewer of them. I don't need additional responsibilities. I don't need additional pressure to "perform" by being comprehensive and witty in comments. I take what i can get from any given post, and move on.

I would venture that a majority of readers of blogs and forums are there for the information and entertainment, not to participate in being *part* of the entertainment. Don't take it personally if i don't comment. For you i would suggest commenting when you have something to say, and not worry about the rest of the times.

Anonymous said...

Totally busted. Geesh. Lisa here, your biggest south florida fan. Why don't I comment? Cause I'm either too busy laughing or crying. Plus I read you before my work day starts, before the coffee has really kicked in, you are like my morning wake up (I hate when you post late in the day!!!), and my neurons are not really functioning enough to sound at all rational. Plus I'd end up saying stupid things like ROFL or LOL squared cause I'm usually too busy snarfing my coffee on my keyboard. I literally do not go a day without reading you. (Well, sat and sund) But yeah, when you don't post, I'm like a heroin addict checking when you will post throughout the day. Its like a nervous tick or bad drug habit. You are my crack. My crank. My drug of choice.

This has really been so interesting to read!

I posted this because 1) I couldn't sleep and 2) Because I was feeling like a huge douche because I've been bad about commenting lately.

I've gotten a lot of helpful advice and it seems like a lot of people feel the same way I do.

I would never take it personally that people don't comment. I'm so guilty of it myself that I can't imagine EVER taking that personally.

I love times like this, though. I'm gaining perspective and I freaking LOVE to gain perspective.

Seriously. You guys rock. And even if you never commented, I would still think that.

Pinkie-swear.

I too read you every day and almost never comment. (Sorry bout that) I never know what to say, or think what I have to say will sound stupid. I also read what you write at scrivel (sp?) You're a wonderful writer!

HI! I'm a frequent lurker on your site. I think you're hilarious! The bees knees infact. I read my blogs at work mostly and am afraid my boss will catch me, you know, not working so I don't usually comment.

Hey!

I read everyday...multiple times a day...i LOVE you! I have always wanted to comment, but I never know what to say, what with you not knowing me and all. But nonetheless...I love reading your blog...I hope you never stop writing here.

Okay. . .so I read. And, I comment.

And most times -- after commenting -- I feel like a dork because the stuff I said was intended to be funny and just missed the mark. Ya know?

. . .and yeah, I've been wondering if you've been reading ME lately! :)

Guilty here. I read every day but having a busy 16 month old limits comment time. Shame on me! I should be more supportive of a fellow Volunteer!

You know I read your blog and love ya, so that's not an issue!

Sometimes I don't comment because you have a bunch of comments already and someone's already said what I've said, but said it better.

And sometimes, I have to close out my browser really quickly because someone is coming to talk to me about work!

heehee

have a good day!

well, i've commented before and i participated in your whore your stuff thing last christmas.

but mostly i read and enjoy but am afraid, like others, i will look like a dork if i don't have anything clever to add.

plus the more comments a blog gets, the less i tend to comment. since i'm a comment whore myself, i guess that's the wrong way of going about it.

sorry. sigh.

J said...

Hi I'm J, and I leave comments, like, all the time. When I first came here I thought that I would never get noticed in the sea of comments you get. And then? One day? You came to my blog and left a comment. And it was like Yoda had come and said "See what you are doing, I do."

So maybe people dont comment because they think that you are so special that you will never notice them. But if they are persistant, you will. I know that.

PS. Isn't there a Delurking Day? I can't remember when it is though. Sometime in the fall.

Um yeah, I'm a lousy commenter, I know.

And I think I don't comment sometimes because people don't feel obligated to comment on my page so I kind of wondered why I felt so obligated to comment all the time...

And then? Then I missed a few days and commenting on every blog I missed seemed like a chore and then I just got lazy .

Yeah, I suck.

Nancy said...

I read but seldom comment on any blogs... I usually comment when I have something worth saying. I know I like comments on my blogs so I should totally comment more often.... I'll try harder at least for today!

Chick, I have a confession to make. I adore you and your blog and think you are fantastic and I get very excited when you comment mine. You are like a freaking blog celebrity!!!!! You are SO not a dork! :o)
But I don't comment everyday either, cause sometimes I don't know what to say either. Have a great day Chick!!!

Kimberly Vanderhorst said...

Comments give my life meaning, so yeah...I pretty much always comment, even if to say something really dorky. Like...umm...right now.

Sometimes though I'll read a blog in my bloglines window and not click over. Like I read this one with nifty craft ideas. It got boring saying "Cool craft idea" every day so I don't comment there anymore. That makes me feel kind of lame though.

Love ya! Mwah!

Anonymous said...

I read your blog every day, but don't leave comments. Mostly because I don't know what to say or think that what I might have to say is a little dorky.. I'll try harder to leave comments.

Anonymous said...

See, normally I wouldn't comment when I get here and there's already 34 comments.

Because life is so hectic at work right now, that I barely find time to read the post. So then I can't possibly find the time to read 34 comments and come up with something that hasn't been said yet.

But I'll make a deal with you. I do read you every day. And I'll start just writing "Word!" as in "I agree with everything you say, yo." and you can feel free to do the same to me.

And then we'll know that it's out of love.

AndreAnna said...

I'm a sucktastic commenter lately. I do read you every day though. You make me laugh.

My days are often like this: so pregnant-toddler-work-office-commute-
drive-clean-baby-toddler-oh-lord-dinner-
clean-toddler-dirt-work-emails...

Much like your day. sometimes, I read and forget to come back and comment. Sometimes, I feel like I'm just listening to a friend, and don't need to respond.

Sometimes, I don't have anything of value to say so I keep my cake-eater clamped.

But, I'm here!

holly hell girl.. you get a lot of comments!! i wish i got some more, but then again, i'm pretty sure my blog isn't as funny or as well written as your is. :)

that being said. Hi!! i'm from crazy magic sometimes hectic beautiful life... where i blog about my kids and some other shit too...
i found you from Allie Bear, J, and Stephanie's blogs. :) **(love those girls!!)**
i did read your blog the other day and I don't think i commented... oh wait maybe i did. seriously i'm not joking here, i'm loosing my mind... it was the post about your husband and the dumb-ass waitress hitting on him...slutbag... i meant to comment, i wanted to comment and i MAY have commented but i'm not sure now... sorry.
i much like you have twins that are ALWAYS into something. i have two girls and i also have a boy! my son turned 2 and a wk later i had my girls. :) life is GREAT but much like my blog title... crazy, magic... blah blah blah.. you get it. :) so i'm not too sure if i did leave that comment or just thought it in my head.
either way i'm commenting now... to say that i don't always comment either, but i think it is nice to let someone know they have readers... even if you just type "hi" or something. and if someone is mad/annoyed that you are there well too bad for them.. they shouldn't have a public blog then... or they can close their comments.
just my $.02.
well anyway... my girls would like bagels with cream cheese and since they are only 2 1/2 and took out all the stuff for me to make them that, i should at least get up and make it. :)

have a great day!!

It's funny you are writing this because I have been feeling the same way lately. I've actually been making a real effort to comment. Successful? Meh.
I'm also making a real effort just to get out of bed in the morning.

velocibadgergirl said...

I mostly just lurk because chances are if I have something to say, I'll just say it to you directly, being all special and knowing you in real life and all ;)

When it comes to blogs with as many commenters as yours, though, I have to admit I usually figure my always-late-to-the-party comments will just get lost in the mix and not really even be read by anyone. And I'm a dork.

Anonymous said...

Funny. I was just thinking the same thing about the people that regularly visit my blog but don't comment. I can only imagine they've got nothing to say. I love comments. I'm happy just to get a "hey, I was here". So....here's my comment ;-)

Anonymous said...

I've been reading for a while and I don't comment. I guess I fear that whatever I say will sound dumb and I'll forever be "that girl who left the stupid comment on Jason. For the love of God."

Contributing to this paranoia is the odd spelling of my name, which I am convinced makes me recognizable to others (while my rational mind says, "Come on, you're not THAT memorable, not really memorable at all... and a lot of people probably spell 'Megan' with the extra 'a'.")

So here's my dumb comment, and now I'll convince myself to continue reading your blog through Google Reader without ever commenting again because now I'm "that girl that rambled on in that comment that time."

Anonymous said...

I, too, read every day but never comment. As we're friends "IRL", I know how to contact you outside your blog.

HOWEVER, (this is the stupid part). I don't contact you about stuff in here as I should. I just feel like what I would say would be so inadequate and pale in comparison to what you may need at the time. So I don't and perhaps that's dumb.

But I love you infinitely forever and a day and am with you every step of the way in all you are and all you do. xo, j~

Allie said...

I comment sometimes, I read every single post but I only comment when I have something to say. I didn't comment at first, it took me about 6 months to feel like maybe I could join this group of super cool commenters on this amazing blog. Like everyone else, I thought people would think I was a dork or stupid or maybe (before I had a blog of my own) you would think, "Who is this Allie Bear idiot and why is she reading my blog?" I know better now and I try to show love when I feel like I can actually add something to the conversation.
It makes me giddy like a school girl when I see that you came by my page. I know you don't always comment and that is fine by me but I know you on my sitemeter and its kinda cool to me that you, Chick, reads my blog. You were the ONLY blog I read for the longest time, all blogs were stupid except yours (fyi: I don't think all other blogs are stupid anymore), and its cool that now you read my blog.

I would love to comment but usually find that it does not work and I write this nice, supportive comment (in my mind) only to find that I need some sort of sign in/on and its just way to hard to figure out while Im supposed to be working! But, I love the blog, it is 1 of 2 that I have to ready daily!

Unknown said...

hahahaa look it worked! Be careful what you wish for, comments oplenty coming your way! Have a great day.

Joy T. said...

Plain and simple with me....time. Or lack of it. I can read, but to click and comment is a whole other story. So I lurk a TON in the blogosphere. Plus I rarely know what to say that won't sound stupid because I have a really bad habit of trying to be funny when in fact I'm not funny at all. So I sometimes hurt people's feelings when that is the LAST thing I would ever want to do. So I try not to say anything at all. Oh. And I tend to ramble. Quiet is good for me.

Kim said...

First let me say, "I LOOOOVE your blog!" I usually don't comment because I don't have anything half as witty to say in response to your stinking' hilarious commentary!

Also, being from the left coast, the entire rest of the country has had time to steal all of my best stuff for their comments!

Woe is me...

Sarcasta-Mom said...

Jeez, looks like you outed all the lurkers. lol.

I often don't comment because a post is so good, I'm afraid my comment will make me look like a tool. I would hate for other bloggers that I love to read to think I'm a complete wank.

And when you comment on my blog, it really makes my day because your blog always moves me, and is one of my favorite to read :)

LzyMom said...

We-ell, I do think other people say things better than I do. Then I get halfway through a comment and think, I'm too tired to finish. Then I think, will she really care? Then I think will she really read it anyway?

Since I am commenting now... I love your blog and your sense of humor. :)

Suzy said...

I used to comment here but stopped as I too found you non-interactive, as another poster mentioned. I tend to comment on blogs where they comment on mine. There's just too many blogs and I like to thank the ones who do take the time to comment.

And for all you delurkers, good grief, get over yourselves and your dork fears. Ridiculous to have such low self-esteem in this day and age.

~Sheryl said...

I read pretty frequently and I have commented a time or two. I agree with what everyone here, including you, is saying about why I don't comment more. I get distracted, sometimes I read on my lunch hour (yea right!) at work and it's hard to find the time and since I'm not adding anything of value... I just keep reading.

Plus? Things are way funnier in my head. As soon as I type it... not so much.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

p.s.... wow, suzy.

Heather {Desperately Seeking Sanity} said...

I have my blogs categoried in my reader and one of the sections is MUST READ... there are 5 or 6 blogs there. I did this when I realized that blog reading was overtaking my life. I read the others as I have time.

My point? Yours is in the must read. And those in the must read folder almost always get commented on. Not always but alot more than the others.

I don't comment every day but I do when I feel like I have something to add to the conversation or if I feel like a comment would do you some good, like lifting you up when you're down.

I was also going to tell you that when you comment on my blog, I feel like a celebrity has dropped by and maybe it's because I know you don't comment all the time and forget that you read occassionally? I don't know...

but then I decided not to tell you that because you would think I was a little stalker/dork.

But other people said it, so I'll say it to. :D

That does it...Im doing a "Why dont you comment entry!" LOL

Honestly, I intend to comment...and mark it on my bloglines to comment...because when Im reading blogs, at work(which is when I usually get a chance to..lol)if I start typing a whole lot..the boss tends to rise an eyebrow. So I just sit here and act like I'm doing my work.

If that isnt the reason at the time...I often mark it when I think "I gotta comment on this when I feel like moving more than my one hand on the mouse" lol. Love your blog btw.

I read a lot of blogs, and I rarely comment. I frequently start a comment, then think to myself, "self, no one cares about that." Then I close the window and go on my merry way.

Now, I know that's silly. But it feels weird when I know the people I read so well, but they have no idea who I am.

I think anon's comment is sad, finding joy in cutting other people down is a sad existance.

well... I DO comment... so I guess this doesn't apply to me.

I just wanted to say that according to my google stats thing 100 people visit my blog everyday... only about 6 of them ever comment.

who knows why.

I know I don't comment on some blogs because they already have like 700 comments and I figure there is just no point in adding my nonsensical words.

KiKi said...

I rarely comment on your blog, for 3 simple reasons:

1) I usually crack a rib, hurt my stomach, or have an asthma attack from laughing at you/your antics.

2) Sometimes I spray my monitor if I forget not to drink while reading your blog, or choke if I'm crazy enough to eat.

And even on your more serious days, I can't think of a thing to add that hasn't already been said. Someone always steals the comment from my head and posts it before I can. And they're usually far more witty than I am.

I read, I comment. I read, I don't comment. I always read, though. I am a really lazy commenter all over these days, so if it means anything I probably comment on yours as much as anywhere. Comments or not, I think you rock - and you know that!!!

Sure hope the Asheville thing doesn't completely fall through.....

Rebecca said...

I read always and comment occasionally. My focus is just about as splintered as yours apparently. Also? My husband can go all day long with nothing to say, but the minute I get on the computer suddenly he becomes a non-stop conversationalist. I don't really get that, but it is what it is...haha.

I rarely comment on blogs because... I'm not sure why. I don't want people to wonder, doesn't this broad have a life? Yeah, but it gets boring. Some blogs I don't comment on because I don't have a blog, so I guess I feel like I should keep my yap shut. When I do leave comments I make sure they are positive. I do read you blog everyday and love it! You are so honest and real!

Dude - you have SO many more commenters than I do! 86? What the hell! I have literally hundreds of people read my blog a day and I get maybe 30-40 comments. On a good day.

I think they read and then hate me but, like any good train wreck, they keep coming back for more.

NEVER AGAIN said...

I love your blog and read it every day. I hardly ever comment but mostly because I have my blog reading routine whenever I get time to go online...first Chick, then Trish, then passiveaggressivenotes.com, then dlisted and lastly, True wife confessions. Then I check my email. Then my time is up and I have to go do important mom/wife type stuff like EVERYTHING in the house...

I read and laugh fairly often. I comment every now and then,But I was thinking the same thing about my own blog. I looked at the counter on my blog and I have had almost 3,000 visits. But I have had maybe 50 comments. I wonder who the people are that are reading my blog. So anyway I enjoy reading your blog because you write well, you are funny and I think it is cool that we were born on the exact same day.

Anonymous said...

I don't comment because usually by the time I check out blogs, someone else has said either something WAY way more intelligent than anything I could come up with.

Anonymous said...

*sigh* see??? I didn't finish that. Actually I did. I was going to say they either said something way more intelligent than I could ever think of or... then I saw something shiny and forgot what I was going to write.

Oops.

i don't have my own blog,so i thought it might be frowned upon to leave a comment from a non blogger. but your blog rocks and i check it daily. i emailed you a while back about me wondering if i was too fat for the disney rides. you were super sweet. i will comment more if you would like me to.

Anonymous said...

Holy comments, Batman!!
I read your blog everyday & I'm a non-commenter, I'm afraid. Because I don't feel cool enough to comment on the "cool" blogs that are everyday must-reads for me - like yours.
I wish I was more confident about it, but judging from the amount of comments I get on my blog (the sound of crickets DEAFENS), I think the lurkers outnumber the commenters in a big, big way.
Or....yeah, shiny things.

I read all the time and I really appreciated your comment on my blog today!! People really don't comment as much once summer starts but they do still read.. it's cracking me up!! XOXO

Good Lord. . .if I check back again and you're up over 100 comments, I'll just cry! (Tears of joy, of course!)

...and you're pretty darn close, my friend!

I can honestly say I've not commented here because I've never been here before. But I'll be back! Love your blog. That cracks me up about the waitress. My sister has that problem with some girl at a coffee stand who always hits on her husband, right in front of her, with their three obnoxious kids in the car. Some people just aren't wired right...

Anyway, I don't comment for exactly the same reasons you don't comment. Mostly the one about feeling like a dork or not having anything to say, but also the distraction factor.

Anonymous said...

Wow some people need a life! I leave comments for you from time to time. I don't have a blog but if I did I wouldn't withhold comments just because you didn't comment enough...some people have alife!

Love ya girl and love your blog!!!

Sometimes I beg people to leave me comments and I get like one! You're one of my daily reads, so yes, I should most definitely comment more. Love your writing and your honesty--wish I could write more like you. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hello there. I just discovered your blog this morning, through my friend Tara and think I may just have to check your blog out. And here I am...commenting.

Okay...we got to make it even hundred here... and it might as well be me and my fantastic self...

Is this the shit storm you spoke of over at Kelly's? Looks like Suzy and your old trusty troll surfaced again.

I'd rather email you or google chat with you than comment. Cause it IS intimidating to see so many comments on a post and wonder if your's will get lost. Just had this same conversation with AFF.

Steph said...

Suzy and I are cool.

The troll is NEVER cool.

Misty said...

i read you all of the time. You are hilarious! I used to comment more, but I've just been so busy lately and you are never lacking in comments, so sometimes I just say nothing...

Anonymous said...

I have your blog bookmarked and read you daily. I enjoy what you write a great deal. You have captured my feelings about commenting exactly. It feels awkward, somehow. I will do my best to stop feeling awkward and comment regularly.

Cricky said...

I worry that I won't say something intelligent sometimes....

Or like you I am side tracked. I read most blogs at work so it might take me 3 hours to make it through an entire post and by that time I've forgotten what I wanted to comment on from the first paragraph.

Jocelyn said...

Holy bajeebus. 105 comments on this post? I've been wondering about the disconnect between my site meter and the number of comments, too. Guess I should holler out to lurkers!

I actually came over here to thank you for the really kind and wonderful comment on my blog yesterday; when a fine writer says something nice like you did, it makes me feel all shiny inside.

Anonymous said...

Sometimes I go through phases where I comment everywhere I go, and then there are times (like now!) when I comment when I have something more important to say than "Too funny" or "I totally know what you mean". Does that make sense? I lurk in lots of places, and I'm sure people lurk at mine. Okay, I know they lurk on mine because of my trusty friend, sitemeter.

(And lots of times I don't comment anywhere because the munchkins want something. Like attention. Or food.)

Unknown said...

Sometimes I really just have nothing to say. Other times I'm intimidated by the other comments (they sound soooo smart or funny)and I'm afraid I'll make a fool of myself. Other times the other commentors have said it all. Sometimes it's late and I'm tired and lazy, so I take and don't give. Hmmmm....maybe that's why no one comments on my except you of cours.

Anonymous said...

OK, I will admit it...I'm a lurker. I really have no idea why I never comment. I stumbled upon your blog a while back and so I started reading it like a book, from the very beginning. I would think of things to tell you, but then I kept saying I would wait until I got to your current posts...then for some reason I just never got around to posting anything. Now every morning after my baby wakes up, she will look at her mobile for a few minutes while I run to the computer to check my email and read your blog! Like now is the perfect example...I'm finally leaving a comment but I can't think of anything cool to say! So I promise to leave more comments from now on :-) Keep up your writing...and I would totally buy your book!

Kiki said...

I do read your blog... I am new to it but I do read and I have left you a comment. I love the way you write. You are witty and real and I appreciate that so much more than you will ever know.

Keep on trucken!

Hi! I used to comment everytime I read a post... Because I wanted to become part of the blogging community and, also, because I was trying to entice people to want to come and visit my blog when i visited theirs. But, now I've been blogging for a few months and I have a few loyal readers & bloggy friends and so I only comment if I have something worthwhile to say. When I don't comment, it's pretty much for the same reasons you put in your post - distracted, nothing to say, or worried about sounding like a big dork.

I found you through Frannie...
I love your blog! I peoples blog and don't always comment either! Sometimes I just don't know what to say and sometimes I just don't want them to think I'm a stalker weird-o! BECAUSE I've received comments from people I don't have a CLUE who they are or how they found me! So when I do go over to someones blog from another...I try to tell them that! Okay for real...that felt like a bunch of run-on, on, on, on, on...lol

Patiently waiting said...

I too read your blog everyday, but don't often comment and I don't really know why. Maybe because sometimes I don't feel like what I would have to say would be good advice. I don't know, I love your blog I just don't comment a lot.

113 comments?! Chick!!!

Emma in Canada said...

114 comments? Jaysus. Obviously people are mucho reading you. I rarely comment anywhere anymore. receive a lot less comments too. But that's cause I write drivel. I have no bloggy mojo. Or commenty mojo.If it wasn;t for the fact that I like you and the others I read I wouldn't even bother anymore.

kristi said...

I try to leave comments on blogs because I want more readers!! I only leave comments on blogs I really like though.

Rachel (Crazy-Is) said...

Crap, you caught me. I'm a lurker.

Wait. No I'm not. I have big mouth, so I comment almost all of the time, as you well know.

Jenski said...

I will definitely read posts and think that I will go back and comment and then don't. I try to get myself to comment something right when I read. I don't always think of something I feel is adequate though, and then I don't comment. Basically, you're not alone in the non-commenting. :-) Thanks for when you do comment though! I never think, "OH GOD HER?!"

I have nothing else to say.

(Except that you rock.)

Wow I am #119. I feel the same way about thinking you will think I am a dork or that I just don't know what to say.

I also feel inferior to you. You write so well, are witty, and hilarious.

My comment is an example of why I rarely comment. I get only a few short blocks of time each day to spend on the computer. I feel like I scramble, late in the game, to catch up with your entries. By the time I get a chance to sit and read, I usually have 3-5 days worth of entries to read. I read all your posts. But sometimes I'm several days late and the moment is gone or I've talked with you about it IRL already.

So I only comment here rarely, but I always read because I love you a hinty-billion. So does small fry, because without you, well, his momma wouldn't have made it through the dark days. Speaking of the little man, he's pulling books off of shelves so the computer time draws to an end for the time being.

Rachael Elisabeth-Cahours Acklin said...

Well, I, uh. Honestly, you have so many comments, I never feel as if I have anything useful to say.

Also, I use you as entertainment fodder for myself, along with all the other hundreds of blogs in my feed reader. ;) I probably only comment on ten percent of them.

Huh. I wonder why that is.

imbeingheldhostage said...

Wow, 124 comments and you NOTICE people aren't commenting? I get 124 comments a YEAR. This is my first visit. and I may have read and just moved on because, well besides the distraction, there's the idiot factor--I DO comment and then close the comment window before it's had time to do it's thing.

SJINCO said...

I'm a little late to the game but I *try* to comment every single blog post I read. Typically when I don't though, it's because I'm in a hurry and don't have time, or I'm simply lost for words.

I absolutely love you and your blog Chick, you are fierce in so many ways...keep it up!

Jill said...

i try to comment on your blog, even though i dont know if you've ever visited mine, you're hilarious and your stories help me make it through until i can crash into bed. your humanity and willingness to be truthful not only about your opinions but about your feelings is refreshing. i only get to blogs every 2 or 3 days now instead of 3 or 4 times a day like before (yikes) but i 'get' you most of the time. which is fun.

Anonymous said...

I haven't commented here because I just discovered your blog. But in general, I only comment once or twice a day (total), and I read a lot of blogs.

LeBlanc said...

I have your blog in my feed reader and at least peruse what you have to say daily. I'm not sure why I don't comment generally but I feel that way about lots of blogs. Being someone that loves comments (and doesn't get very many) you would think I would return the favor every once in a while.

SPONGEMOM SWEATPANTS (formerly Crazy Mama!) said...

I just love your blog - can't remember how I found you, and I never, ever comment enough, but I think your writing is just hysterical.

As I was catching up on some of your recent posts today, I found that #1 - you had written the lyrics to Kyle's Mom's a Bitch (singing it in my head RIGHT NOW!!!!), and #2 - you had open letters to crazy punk-asses at WalMart (I COULD HAVE WRITTEN THOSE LETTERS, i HAAAAAATE WALMART)...and so now? I think I love you.
