Stupid suffering people! Gah!

I work with someone who...well, let's just say she is pretty much charm-free.

Recently there was a book fair at work. All the proceeds from book sales went to children.

Children with cancer.

So I went and bought a few books. They were pricier than the books in bookstores, but whatever. I came back to my office and the other employee said, "I just don't want to pay that much for books."

And that's fine, you know? I am a firm believer that everyone should spend their own money on what's important to them (as long as they aren't constantly borrowing money from other people and then spending their money on...I don't know. Dildo's or whatever). I know that I spend a lot of money on Ginger's grooming and vet appointments and not everyone would agree that is a wise way to spend money. To each his own, right?

But the other person would. not. leave. it. alone.

She continued on and on and on about how she just thought it was ridiculous to spend that much money and how she didn't think anyone should spend money on those overpriced books and she could not believe how many people were out there buying books.

Finally, I'd had enough and I snapped, "Yeah! Totally. Screw those kids with cancer. They have no idea."

That shut her up.

Today I was talking about The Race for the Cure which I am participating in this October. I'm a big fan of saving the ta-ta's and I really like to support breast cancer research when I can.

I also mentioned that I am planning, NEXT YEAR, to walk in the 2 day walk. It's a lot of miles. A lot.

The co-worker? Looked at me and laughed. Said, "Do you REALLY think that's a good idea?"

Because damn. Seriously. What a selfish buttface I am for wanting to raise money for CANCER RESEARCH. What was I thinking?

Okay, so I'm overweight. I get that. I have a training plan which I am already working. It's FOURTEEN MONTHS AWAY. I'm steadily losing anywhere between 6-10 pounds a month. I seriously think I'll be okay.

But again.

What the damn hell is wrong with people?

The nerve of some people! Some people seriously just need to keep their mouth shut if they can't say any thing nice let alone intelligent. Yeah for you for supporting those children and cancer research. She sucks!

Some people have more money than they have brains. And some people could be dirt poor and STILL have more money than they have brains.

Sorry you keep finding them.

Because I am really impressed at your effort, and I have no doubt that you can do whatever you set your mind to.

First of all? Admire the heck out of you. For serious. You rock.

She? Sadly is not a rarity in this world. More the norm it would seem. We are so bloody self-absorbed and it scares me. I worry about my kids having to live in a world populated by people like that.

That's part of what I get out of blogging. I get to be reminded that awesome people who (gasp!) care about other people, still exist out there.

Karma's a bitch.

A huge, fat, bitch who walks for cancer right next to you.

"charm free" is an exceedingly kind way of referring to that woman.

Angie said...

Yeah, I may have to figure out ways to incorporate "charm free" into my vocabulary! :)

She sucks.
You Rock.
The End.

That's awesome that you are helping people with cancer, kids and adults alike. I can't think of a better way to spend money or time than helping find a cure.

And what is it with people thinking fat people can't be active? Being fat is all the more reason to do the walk. Last summer I took a water aerobics class and at the beginning of the semester you had to run a mile and then again at the end of the semester to see how much you improved. I shocked the hell out of them when I finished second (first place was a 19 year old guy and he had me by a long shot), ahead of all the skinny little girls, that was the best feeling. Never underestimate a fat chick.

Why do some people think they can just say anything they want? I wish there was some sort of medical procedure to connect the brain to the mouth. I'd walk for that, but those asshats might not want me to because I'm fat.

Sometimes I hate people.

She's a bitch. Seriously. Just a damn bitch.

Holy crap you are my hero.

Honestly, you have got to be kidding me. What is wrong with the black souls of some people? Kids with CANCER and you wanting to help fight breast CANCER.

I mean Damn. And YOU??? Totally rock my world right now. Good luck with the training! I'm sure your going to meet your goals.

Frannie said...

people have no home training.

that is what is wrong with them.

BandK said...

Don't you wish that sometimes you could tell people at work to STFU already??? Geesh. Of course that is breaking all kinds of work rules, with the "f" word and all, and certainly someone with no class like that person, would file a grievance against you for using the "f" word, but don'tcha just wish you could. Just once.

*sigh*

I? would stand up and applaud you for saying that.

Seriously? What a total jack ass. Why are some people so incredibly selfish and heartless, and so damn loud about it at the same time? It amazes me that some people totally lack in the shame department.

You are the best!

People are tools. The co-worker is clearly one of them.

:)

Wow, you've got some real jewels at your office. Good for you for saying something, some people just talk because they like to hear their own stupid voice.

She is obviously lacking any sort of saving grace.

Can you take short term disability for mental anguish? :) Your work place sounds like it's full of mental people....!

OK.. linkage please.. I found a three day walk and I may be a fan of Sleep in for the Cure but so far I haven't found the 2 day walk.

And fourteen months of getting stronger and walking further? You absolutely will rock that walk.

Apparently she opens her mouth and inserts her foot on a daily basis.

Lisa @ Boondock Ramblings said...

Seriously. Who wants to help people with cancer?

Duh.

Hold it all for yourself because obviously you can take it with you when you DIE.

Duh again.

Tricia said...

Well, she is right, because obviously, helping people with cancer is a horrible, horrible idea. I mean, what were you thinking? I bet you support DARE too? Don't you?!

And? I think it is an awesome idea for you walk in the 2 day event. Not only for the cancer research end, but for yourself. It is always good to have something to work for.

Those are some awesome plans, dude, and way to work hard for it. She is a douchewad that will probably forever waddle her way bitchily down life's road, attempting to knock down anything she can to make herself feel better about her tiny, blackened, and shriveled soul.

CPA Mom said...

oooh, are you running the 5K Race for the Cure? I am!! It'll be my first 5K and I'm scared AND excited!

The twoday walk - no way I even WANT to do it. YOU GO GIRL!! Ignore the asshats.

Keetha said...

I think some people really, really enjoy being unhappy.

Go u Go u!!! Seriously you rock!!! You are supporting kids with cancer and breast cancer!!!

Good luck with your training.

She needs to jump off a short cliff already!!

KrustyLynn said...

I'm doing the two-day walk as well! (except halfway across the country!) You get it girl!

Ol' dummy was probably looking for a little validation for not caring. selfish.

I get made fun of for giving a few dollars to homeless people.

Whatever!

notsosmallfries said...

OMG, seriously? She's a douche.

You, however, rock. The two day? That's awesome.

So you should totally take a pic of yourself crossing the finish line, stick it on her desk with a post it saying something like,
"So what did YOU do this summer?"

I loved your comment about the books. You'd think it would actually make her think before she talks but apparently that's not the case.

she's probably one of those people that doesn't believe in a cause until something happens to her

Sounds like a case of "misery loves company" to me. She's unhappy and would rather you all be unhappy with her.

I'm pretty sure I'd be an asshole and start wearing awareness ribbons and passive-aggressively start promoting cancer funding EVERYDAY. Not only because they are all worth the cause, but just to piss her off.

Jana said...

People are assholes. For the most part. It goes back to that old adage... If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. Didn't their parents/grandparents teach them this? *sigh*
Of course, it is more likely that they are unhappy and MUST make everyone else unhappy to feel remotely good about themselves. I wish those people would just go to therapy already!!!!

Does your office have a lost and found? Because you might want to call them and tell them that your coworker seems to have lost her soul.

I mean seriously. WTF???

People, in general I think, are douchewads.

I don't know why that came up twice, I only hit submit or whatever once.

Nacho Lover said...

what's wrong with them is that they're not as awesome as you. duh. :)

i say YAY for you for working on yourself and making the world a better place. way to go on your cancer walk (plan)!

What an absurd woman, and dense and a bit mean spirited... When I have to deal with idiots like that I tell myself, "She has that unfortunate personality, and that's her cross to bear." I don't know why that makes me laugh, cheers me up. This lady you work with has a SUPER UNFORTUNATE personality. Ugh. You however, have a most fortunate one. love, V

Anonymous said...

I agree with the others that said that woman is an idiot!

As for your weekend to end breast cancer walk next year - I did it last year and trust me, I'm way way WAY overweight. :) I lived to tell the story!

Are you going to have a link on your blog for people to make donations?

Priscilla said...

Thank you! Thank you for your participation in the Race for the Cure. As a BC survivor I appreciate the support but also the awareness.

Are you getting your mamo's done? Huh? Are you? You better!

Anonymous said...

she doesn't want you to walk because then she'll have to admit to herself that she had no excuse, but didn't do it anyway.

you go, girl...

My friend coined the term "SFP" - know it, use it, believe it...it stands for Stupid F-ing People. There are so many out there.

I'm with you on this. I would pay for the books to raise money just as readily as I give money to my sister who does the 3 Day Walk for breast cancer. I don't kdo the walk, but I'm 100% behind everyone who does. And if you'r overweight who cares. I've seen people of all shapes and sizes and ages on those walks.
