I just need to stop.

I have to stop reading blogs until this election is over. Not just blogs. Everything. The newspaper. The internet. Everything.

I really believe that people have every right to their own opinion. Honestly I do. And I respect that. I respect your opinion, whatever it is. I don't always agree with it, but I respect it. Because if I know you, or don't know you, it doesn't matter. I respect you and your right to have an opinion.

I do not respect when people say what I think is stupid, simply because they don't agree with it.

I don't blog about politics. I never have. I won't.

Because, frankly, it's no one's business who I vote for. It's no one's business how I feel about the stock market or unemployment or the war. It's no one's business where I worship.

And it's none of my business how you feel about it. I won't ask you. I won't tell you. Probably, if I open your blog and you are writing about politics, I'll leave politely. Even if I adore you (and there are a lot of bloggers I adore), I'm likely not going to read or comment on it. It doesn't mean I don't care about you. Even if we have differing political views, I still respect you. And if we are friends, I love you. Even if we don't agree on everything. We're still friends.

But if you think I'm stupid because of how I feel about things? You don't even freaking know me.

And I don't want to know you.

I hate politics. You'll never catch me blogging about that stuff on my site. It's too heated, and too personal.

My blog is safe too. I don't have the energy to discuss politics.

I don't discuss politics. Not even with my husband.

:)

I'm 100% with you on this one. I hate reading about politics, too... for the same reasons.

I know, I am totally with you. I have stopped reading a few blogs because they called me (in a general term) stupid. Which is just not nice. Just because I don't believe the same things as you doesn't mean I am stupid.

Normally I stay away from it with a ten foot pole.

And I have tried to have a real sense of humor about it. I've done it all tongue in cheek and I hope that anyone who knows me or reads me know me knows that I'm totally kidding.

This is an interesting way to put it. You definitely have opinions, as we all do. . . but your blog is NOT the place to discuss it. . .and I can totally respect that.

And.you.

I totally agree. There are 2 things I will not discuss: Religion and Politics. Just not worth it, and honestly Im not that interested in either subject LOL

I'm with ya girl! I too have been quite disturbed at some people and their reactions when they learn that this one, or that one doesn't agree with THEM. As if THEY are right. Everyone has an opinion and everyone has a right to that opinion. Simple as that.

Besdies, it's absolutely absurd to be so closed minded.

Eh...closing my mouth now!

I've pretty much avoided reading and discussing politics on my blog, except for my occasional rants on the economy which doesn't put anyone at blame, just that it sucks. heh.

I pretty much keep my opinions to myself, especially lately. There are a LOT of people who don't agree with me, including MrB and I really hate how they automatically make me wrong. it's annoying so I just don't talk about it.

I hope no one really said that...

I han an old co-worker throw a hissy fit and push me out of her office once when she started demanding I was for the same party as her! And of course I couldn't keep my mouth shut!

It took everything I had not to bring up Ronald Regan with her just for fun :) Mean, I know.

This begs the question, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? As in who called you stupid?

I was just thinking as I did my run this a.m. how divided the country is - I've never seen everyone so polarized! Myself included!!

I completely diagree with "the other side" so I've had to restrain myself not to blog about the election. I don't want any of my friends to think I think less of them because of their political choice, even when I think their facts are wrong.

Gah! Respect is HARD. Shutting up is a hell of a lot easier. So I'll do that!

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everybody thinks everybody else's stinks.

Best to stay away from it. Take a break. I'm with you.

And I'd love you no matter who you support/vote for. :)

Word! I figure it's all network TV wants to talk about, I should be able to get a break on the blogs I enjoy.

Warning: in the next day or two I will post about politics. But Canadian politics. I don't think that counts. Too boring really!

I'm an openbook when it comes to my views, but I respect people who keep it to themselves. Though I often wonder why it seems to be such a secretive thing.

I know! I don't understand it. I want to discuss politics. Because I want to hear other people's ideas and share my own, but then it gets weird, and dangerous, and people yell and call you names and. . .and. . . now I have to decide all these things in secret.

Why can't people be nice? Why?

I was just thinking about this the other day... Everyone is blogging about politics right now...

I also have to politely out click....

I'm with ya, Chick. I made the mistake of politic blogging once (mostly as a beer-fueled joke) and I will never ever ever do that again. Worst idea ever.

Amen, Chick! Lots of hatefulness out there...

Amen to all of that! Thanks for posting this!
