Hell if I know!

Someone asked me recently why I write.

I have an answer, but since I'm not feeling well and dipping into the Nyquil a lot? I'm not sure if I'm not just high.

So if you write or blog tell me.

Why do you write?

hmmm Someone encouraged me to start blogging to keep friends and family updated on my daughter.

I also use it to vent about my husband.

But it's not really me. I edit a lot of my thoughts and language because of the nature of my "audience".

I'd love to cut loose and call someone a douchebag. Ahhhh, to dream. :)

I write because I have to.

I started blogging because it was like a sissy test: putting my writing out in a public forum. (But no one read it, so it was actually really safe.)

Hrmm interesting question. I started writing my blog because it was therapeutic. It was a good place to get out all of the things that frustrated me about living here in Holland. Now it's that, and also that I just enjoy it. I also like when people read and comment haha I guess I'm a bit of an attention whore!

I do find that I censor myself a lot more now than I used to though, and I hate it. In the past when I spoke about some things that bothered me here I rubbed some people up the wrong way (mainly, my father in law and his wife) and all hell broke loose over the silliest little things I said.

Ugh. I write for myself but also for others, but I often wish I had done it all anonymously.

Good question. In my case, it's the whole chicken and the egg thing. Do I blog because I write? Or do I write because I blog?

I believe in my case it's a little of both. Blogging gives me a forum for writing, and impetus to write. Also, I started blogging because I love to write.

Also, I started my blog initially because I wanted to keep family and friends updated on our happenings. And it kind of went from there.

I blog because the world deserves to know my greatness.

tee hee.

Plus I just like to tick people off with all my honesty and admitting imperfection and what not.

And it is wonderful free therapy.

But mostly it is just because I am so darn awesome and it would be a shame to hide that away from the public who is clearly in need of a hero.

Because I tried not writing but I didn't feel like me anymore.

If I write it stops my brains from oozing out of my eyeballs, ears and nose. Because if I don't write my brain will surely explode from the pressure of all the stuff in it. I think way too much is what the problem is.

I like Tarasview's comment!! I write because I like to write and blogging, even though I am not as consistent at it as I would like to be, gives me the outlet that I need to say things. I mostly write about my kids, sort of record keeping. I was never very good at the whole baby book thing. So blogging is a way to keep track of things my kids say and do.

I have a terrible memory! Blogging allows me to relive what I would have forgotten, as well as interact with friends and family far away. Love it.

I write because I feel compelled to. I've been writing since I was a child and in third grade my teacher told me I should be a writer. Well, when I sit down to write a book- nothing. And I don't have the best grasp of grammar or punctuation, but whatever.

Blogging is easier and it fulfills that longing and lets me get on with my life.

When I started blogging it was completely anonymous and I loved that I could write anything. Who was going to judge me, but complete strangers? Unfortunately, friends and family slowly discovered my blog and it has taken me awhile to balance what I want to say and whether or not I always have the guts to say it. I'm finding that balance and writing through my issues and thoughts are cheaper than therapy and a way to deal with myself.

I have no easy answer.

Sometimes I don't understand something that's happened until I frame it in the course of writing about it.

Sometimes I like playing around with words and ideas and just making shizz up and mixing it in with real-life stuff.

Sometimes I feel the process of writing has made me smarter, better able to focus and analyze and see subtleties.

Sometimes I like the gratification of knowing I've had an effect on others.

And twenty-seventy other reasons.

I guess I blog because I wanna be like you.

BTW. . .I think I was in or near your neighborhood today. :)

I do it to exorcise (or exercise) my demons.

The jury is still out on which though.

Totally and completely for myself. Which is a good thing considering I have no readers! Usually it is just because I have so much pent up that getting it in writing makes me feel so much better.

I started blogging to get away from legal writing (which has so many rules) and back to more of a freestyle form. I also wasn't finding many blogs from the perspective of full time working moms, so I thought I had something to share.

Now, I keep blogging because I love the community that I've become a part of. I know it sounds hokey, but I really value and appreciate the comments on my posts. I would never blog just for comments, but feedback IS fun!

I actually write my blog because I live 1200 miles away from my sister and it's a good way for her to know what's going on in my life. It's all mediocre ramblings anyway...

I blog to keep family and friends updated on our goings on. Which probably makes for a boring blog, but it is what it is. And it beats writing 8 dozen different emails every week. I have often thought about having a venting blog, one that I could rant and rave about work, but I am too afraid of being found out and losing my job. I hate my job, but also? I like to eat, so I keep going to work every day.

I used to hate when people would say that they wrote because they have to, but yeah, that's pretty much why I write.

I think Flannery O'Connor said that she writes so she'll know what she's thinking about. I've found that to be very true.

Because all my life I wanted to keep a diary and I never could. And suddenly there was this way to do it...and people could comment! I mean feedback to a private diary? Who'd have thought of that?

I blog because I love to write, but you see, I'm not all that great at it.

My blog is where I can write and I don't have face rejection or criticism, often.

I started writing because I wanted to keep my out of state family in touch. But then writing turned into more than that for me, I found that I enjoyed it. And now I can't imagine NOT having a blog.
