I haven't been much of an attention whore lately.

Allow me to rectify that situation.

1) Several lovely people have emailed asking how the cooking is going.

Well. Let me just tell you. Fabulous.

In fact! Even! Boy Child, has brought his reading grade up to a "B". Because he reads cookbooks every night to figure out what we can try next.

Oh and the fried chicken?

Divine.

2) Recently I took a bunch of girls to Dollywood.

Don't ask me how that went.

But I did get a couple of cute photos.

3) My son is a huge freak.

But you knew that already, right? If not, here's proof:

4) I love this dog:

5) My daughter is nothing if not tenacious.

My daughter is a brilliant writer. She writes amazing stories and tells funny, funny jokes. Helpful little thing too. She often writes grocery lists for me. She's really just a delightful child and does really, really well in school with the exception of one thing.

Can you guess what the one thing is?

I bought apples. But I totally knew what she was getting at.

Chick- this is so cute. Love the photo of BC with his missing arm...

And the grocery list from GC...so sweet.

Remind me to take a photo of a note we unearthed -- the other day- that was written like 6 or 7 yrs ago; it was a pact between my two children... we big people knew nothing about it until we found it tucked inside a silver mug that we just unpacked (yes, we still have boxes in our barn). When we showed it to the kids they were all - yeh, we used to write those 'contracts' allll the time. lol total buttheads to each other, but they love each other too...

my just turned 12 yo old nephew spelled pants 'pance' on his holiday list. i wanted to strangle him. i want to strangle his parents for not reading with him EVER. but i bet he couldnt spell JEANS and that's why he went with PANCE. argh. oh and by the way, they went over his list and didnt make him correct it, either that, or they can't spell jeans either. i know they went over the list because some things were crossed out or erased and re-written in another hand.. good grief!

at least she SUBstituted for something that made sense...

Did you get the shanks at the top of the list? You might want to check out how she's doing with friends at school if she needs shanks. ;)

Love the grocery list. My kids right those for me all the time to remind me what they think I should get for them. I get a kick out of what they think we need and some of the spelling errors. I love how she decided to just right pears instead of fruit. Pears is just as difficult to figure out but she got it the first try!

Love the missing arm pic, he looks so pleased with himself!

Great pics! Boy Child is so funny! Love the grocery list. Before I scrolled all the way down, I was like "why is skanks on her grocery list". We have plenty of those on the streets here, no need to purchase them at the store.

I am always on my daughter's case about her spelling! Maybe the teachers don't place that much importance on it anymore??
