Who's with me?

So lately? I'm figuring a lot of stuff out. It's pretty cool.

In doing so, Big Jim has encouraged me to start figuring out things that I want to do. I've spent a whole lot of years trying to make everyone else happy and while I still think that's good in some ways, in most ways? It pretty much sucks. Because I'm the one who ends up with the short end of the stick all the time.

Big Jim is helping me to understand that it's not selfish to want things for myself. Crazy, I know.

I mentioned recently that I'm walking. A lot. I plan on walking the 5k Komen Race for the Cure in October. And, I'm planning on walking in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in 2009. The 2 day walk.

I've decided that I will walk in the Charlotte event. In October, 2009. I picked Charlotte because my parents live in North Carolina and I thought I could somehow combine this with a visit with them. Plus, it's the latest one next year so it will give me 14 months to get ready.

I'm determined. I can do this. I can raise $1800. I can walk almost twenty miles in a day. Okay, I can't right now, but in 14 months? I so can.

So.

Who's with me?

Is there anyone out there that wants to participate in the Charlotte Walk for Breast Cancer? Even if you are a fattie like me, dude. Seriously. We have fourteen months. It's totally doable.

I'm doing it no matter what. I'll be sending in my registration within a few weeks. I'm going to start my fundraising soon. I've got a training plan that I'm working. Slowly, but surely, I'm increasing my time with every walk. I'm gaining stamina and I'm losing weight.

I'm going to do it.

And if anyone wants in? Let me know.

If my life was more stable and I was able to commit to something in 14 months I would totally do it with you. Unfortunately, we don't know where we'll be living (we're trying to get out of OK) so I'm not really sure what it possibly could entail getting to Charlotte and getting a babysitter for the kids. Best of luck to you though and I wish I could be there with you.

I would definitely do it if I didn't have two small kids and could bank on being able to be somewhere else in the country.

But you definitely CAN do it; I have nothing but faith in you.

AND you won the Shred DVD over on my site today so go claim it; it will definitely help you get in shape in PLENTY of time for this!

send me the details.

my huge charity event is in October, so I may not be able to commit, yet.

But I do have family in Charlotte that I could stay with, if I do it.

of course, I have to get in shape first.

Right now, you would be pushing me in a wheelbarrow.

I did the Avon Walk when it was the 3-Day - we walked 60 miles in 3 days, and had to raise about $1900 I think. I've actually done it twice, but the first one was inspiring and amazing and life-changing. We slept in tents, showered in semi-trailers and met spectacular people. Definitely a fantastic experience.

So, GOOD FOR YOU. You can totally do it.

Here is the dealio... I live about 3,000 miles from you. But I will committ to doing a walk of that distance in the next 14 months. Recently, I took the kids to an amusement park and we walked 5 miles and I gotta say, it kicked my butt. But yes, I will committ to wallking 14 miles by next October, 2009.

Yes, you can. And, to help you "warm up" you are welcome to come do the Buddy Walk on Market Square (october 5)

I'll be the one in the corner, sucking her thumb.

But we'd love to meet you guys there!

I walk 5K's all the time. Unfortunately, my knee won't allow me to do the Two Day but I will definitely support you with a donation. You CAN do it.

I would so be there if I could. Really. I'm not just saying that because I can. I really would.

Not walking with you, but I'm with you in spirit...and willing to sponsor you to help with your fundraising too. Post the link when you are taking donations.

I would love to do it, and I certainly need the challenge, but not if it means sleeping in tents and showering in semi-trailers! (See comment above.)
