I never quite understood the term going postal.

Until today.

When I went to the post office.

And a 200 year old woman was at the counter.
13 people were in line.

She was trying to mail something to her grandaughter.

It wasn't in a box. It was in a plastic Wal-Mart bag.

She didn't know the little girl's address.

She had to call three people to get it.

The man behind the counter had to get her a box.

And after twenty-five minutes? She paid.

IN PENNIES.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

My former step-mother managed apartment complexes, and someone paid their entire month's rent (once) in Susan B. Anthony dollars!

I would've been screaming at her. Haha.

Oh, and one thing. I read your blog posts through a feed reader and want to leave comments without going to the post's address. If you could (no problem if you don't want to), will you put a comment link at the bottom of your posts? I noticed you use feedburner. Just go to feedburner.com and log in, go to optimize, click on feedflare on the left, click on comments count (blogger), and then click activate on the problem. Like I said, no problem if you don't want to, but it may get you more comments.

You forgot to add "Bless Her Heart". Although, by that point, I probably would not have been blessing her anything...oy!

That is why I avoid the post office at all costs. We schedule the mailman to pick up packages, pay all bills on line, and purchase postage through the mail or buy the kids on the internet that you can print.

I still make a yearly trip around the holidays and damn if your old lady's twin isn't at the front of the line every time. Grrr..Makes me want to kick our her cane, flat tire her walker, and steal her change purse. But then my sisters would kill me for doing to that dear old mom. :)

Hate, hate, hate the post office.

Awww, I can feel your frustration but I also feel for her. I know, I know but I hope you still like me. I am thinking it was sweet she obviously went thru so much trouble (and clearly out of her comfort zone) to mail something to her grandaughter. Maybe the post office needs to open a "special" line?
