Highlight of my day.

Girl Child, on the way home from school: "Mom, do you know in the SpiderWick Chronicles? They say 'crap' all the time."

Boy Child, agreeing: "It's true mom! They say crap almost as much as you."

Chick: "I'll totally have to step up my game!"

Girl Child: "Know what else? They say LARD-ASS."

Chick, being wildly inappropriate as usual: *hysterical laughter*

Boy Child: "So?"

Girl Child: "It's a BOOK. You aren't allowed to curse in books, brother. It's against the law."

Chick: "It's not against the law, Girl Child."

Boy Child, in wonder: "Ass is a curse word?"

My son giggles everytime I say 'crap', which is often, I'm afraid. When he wants to say it, he just refers to it as the 'c' word. O my streaks, I'm gonna have a lot of explaining to do if he says "the 'c' word" around anyone, coz we know what other 'c' word they're gonna assume he's referring too, which he doesn't even know exists.

The tangled webs I weave. Crap!

My kid would so totally be surprised to hear that ass was a curse word!

NO Boychild, ASS is NOT a curse word. Ass means donkey and having several of my own, I no longer am offended when people call me an ass. asshole maybe... lol!

Ha! Neither of my kids would know that ASS is a curse word either. Does that make me a bad parent? Hell no! (I wanted to insert a real swear word like damn or fuck, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work. You can't just throw those words around, you know. They have to have meaning.)
What the fuck, you can just throw them around, that is what makes it so damn fun!
*ha! I did it!

Well, is it?

I'm with TLG -- when E learns that there's another "C" word, we're in trouble. I can see his eyes now. . . .

That was SO funny! Yes, Chick, you could write on Scrivel just daily conversations with your children. Of course, you'd probably get a backlash of comments from other parents accusing you of being an inappropriate parent, just as you have here sometimes...but, *sigh*, oh well. They just haven't lived the kind of life that you and I have, right?

BTW, that article from last Sunday on Scrivel that you wrote? Awesome, funny and kind of...inspiring? Yeah. Nice work.

Ass is so an everyday word in our house. We aren't very appropriate parents...but we are good fun!

In a totally non-creepy way though. Honest.

I can't wait until they go to write their college applications and cuss up a blue streak as they explain their life's most-important experiences.

Ass is in crosswords all the time, therefore, it is not a curse word.

Also, I am a dork who does crosswords.
